New RX nav & iPhone
You can transfer contacts from the iPhone to the new nav system via Bluetooth. When you tell the nav system to transfer contacts, it will show "transferring" on the nav screen, and nothing on the iPhone, but it is still transferring contacts. Takes a little while to do it, 7-10 seconds a contact, but it works.

iPhone contacts transfer
My 2010 rx350 is not transferring my Iphone contacts. I have no navigation, my iPhone is 3gs, not hacked or jailbroken. Can you please tell me exactly how you got the rx to ****** the contacts from your iPhone. Thank you.

Try here:
http://www.lexus.com/models/RX/acces...bluetooth.html
http://lexusbluetooth.letstalk.com/b...=&passedPaIds=
Sorry, cannot offer a better advise, as I am not familiar with non-Navi setup in RX 10.
Just edited my own post.
It looks like it may not be possible to transfer any contacts from 3GS phone:

It makes sense since OS 3.1 came out in July 2010.
I would get in touch with the dealer and ask them about possible Lexus software upgrades.
* Re-edited again
PDF says the software version evaluated: 3.0.
I had no problem transferring my contacts from my iPhone 3G (with 3.1 upgraded), but via Navi.

iPhone 3GS here... FYI there are no software updates to the car itself. Car is brand spanking new and other iPhone owners are having zero issues.
OS 3.0 worked fine transferring contacts though you should update the firmware on the phone to 3.1.2 regardless.
There are 4 issues that could be a problem:
1) You don't have any names in your contacts on your phone
2) Your phone hasn't been paired to the car
3) You don't have bluetooth turned on with the phone
4) You need to reselect/reconnect the phone and car
You can try to reconnect the phone with the car by hitting the voice recog button and saying "Select Phone". Then try transferring.
To transfer contacts, hit the menu button in front of the mouse, click Phone and go into Manage Contacts. There's a Transfer option. Once the transfer completes, it takes 10-20 seconds to compile the contacts and then they're ready to be used.

That makes sense; the NAV system runs from a hard disc which stores the data, and has a fair amount of free space. If you have no navigation system, you have no disc in the car where the data can be stored.
