RX 350 oil filter demolished
I serviced the car the other day,
I was chocked when i saw the oil filter,
It was demolished :/ and 3 metal parts fell out of the filter housing
(see pics)
What are those metal parts? Is it from the old filter?
I refitted the new filter without the metal parts

The parts look different that the US model RX350. Without internal support the same thing will happen to your new filter. Here is the oil change procedure with photos for the US model. It shows the Lexus GS350 but the procedure is exactly with same for the RX350.

Weird filter for an RX350? Does not add up. Must be the new generation. Then again I have not seen a spring on my IS350. ??

He is from Sweden. This is the European model that was introduced as the 2006 RX350. The filter innards are obviously different from the 2007 RX350 US version. I think the spring belongs in the center of the filter. That filter just cannot sit in the housing without some support. The metal cap to hold the filter in place and the big cap to seal it totally off. I have never seen this, so take as maybe so and maybe not.

So i have checked with the Swedish Lexus forum,
apparently this is a old style filter, and the metal parts are for the pressure valve, to realese pressure if it would be to much for the filter,,,, dont know if i translated it right , but the guys told me that i did right not to fit them back,,,, as the new filter has it built in some how
