I looked under the RX and yes the plastic cover is as pictured with that "leg" loose and seems that it has been that way for a long time since the area behind it shows signs of heavy rubbing.

Should I cut it off or grind and clean the area off and use double side tape ???

I am leaning more towards trimming it off enough so that it can never rub again.

What you guys think....?

I cut mine with EMS shears and haven't had any issue since
