Hitch not as hidden as I thought
Installed a Curt hitch #13530 on my newly purchased 06 400H.
From viewing other install pics I was under the impression that all you would see is the receiver. I think this was on the new generation models.
I was very disappointed after installing. I could see way too much of the whole hitch.
If anyone is thinking of buying one of these you need to be aware it might not be as clean of an installation as you desire.
I have removed it and will be returning to Amazon tomorrow.
I believe I will order the factory hitch now. Is this hitch in fact hidden more than the Curt?
I have found the Toyota one for $276 delivered.
Does anyone know of one for less?
Local dealer is $275 plus tax and they would have to order it. Might be less of a hassle if there are any problems by purchasing local. I will decide tomorrow.

As you have found out the hitch installation, no matter which one you choose, is clearly visible. Switching to the Toyota hitch will do nothing to relieve this situation. For the 3rd Generation RX Lexus made a change to the under carriage to allow for a much more hidden solution.
You might try looking at some of the sites mentioned in one of the other threads which covered the 2nd Generation RX trailer hitch discussion:

Thanks for the input.
If the factory hitch is still as visible as the Curt I am inclined to just keep it.
I thought I had seen some pics of the factory hitch on the gen 2's that was very concealed.
It might very well have been pictures of the newer model.
Does anyone have any pictures of the factory hitch installed on a gen2 350, or 400h they could post?

I decided to go ahead and keep the Curt since the factory one is not hidden either.
Was trying to get the receiver only visible look that the later models have.
