Ride Setup for Comfort
The answer to the question, is of course to leave the car as it is. To start at the beginning, I want to do a little mod to my car and just starting to think about the setup for the car. The focus here is to do the following for an RX330:
* Drop the car by an inch (just with lowered springs). Shouldn't have to do the shocks until they need to be replaced.
* Increase wheel diameter to 18 inch with a 8" footprint
I have looked at what size tyre I would need for the 18's and came up with a 245/55/18 (I am currently on 225/65/17). This should give me about a 0.1% difference on my speedo that I can live with. The question comes down to ride comfort. No doubt lowering a car and increasing the wheel size (and subsequently reducing the tyre wall height) will change the comfort of the car. If I were to make the changes as I have mentioned above, is this going to have much affect on the ride comfort of my car. If so, would I need to possibly thinking about a slightly larger tyre wall (like a 60) to keep the comfort with the proposed layout? Only thing is, I don't know how silly a 245/60/18 would look vs a 245/55/18.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be welcome. And no, I don't want to leave it as stock. Due to budget, air is also out

Just a note that some here ended up putting 255/55-18 tires on their RX. With the additional width came increased sidewall height. Here is the conversation:

Both will negatively affect comfort. By how much I can't speak to specifically. Each person's comfort preference varies. It could be negligible for you. It could be drastic. If comfort's a priority then taking two actions that both negatively affect comfort just seems like a bad idea.
245 * .6 = 147
245 * .55 = 134.75
A difference of 12.25mm.
245 * .55 = 134.75
A difference of 12.25mm.
