Default 2005 RX330 Timing Belt question

I have 2005 RX330 with low mileage (only 56,000 miles). The manual said it needs timing belt change around 100,000 miles. So, what do you guys recommend? Change it now or wait until it reaches 100,000 miles which still be several years down the road Thanks.

Do a CL search for timing belt and you will see that it would be a waste of money to do it now. Wait until 100K.

Thanks Rainbird for your suggestion. You're right about the money, but I still see pros and cons after doing CL search on it. I welcome any other opinion from other members please. Thanks a lot.

Wait until 115K. If you do it earlier, you are wasting money you already spent on the original belt by not getting full use out of it.

That belt will last to 150K at least I'd bet. Done the job many times now and never saw any significant wear and tear even at 120K.

Many members on CL have changed a timing belt based on time and not mileage. After removing the belt it looked like new. If you ignore the date and push it to 120K, which many members here do, consider doing the water pump as well. Good luck with whatever you decide.

There was a recall on many 2005 RX330's for replacing the crankshaft pulley. I found that my dealer gave me a discount for replacing the TB while he already had the pulley pulled. Cost about $300 and that also included the accessory belts. Have the dealer check your VIN and if you're listed, then get it done now at a discount.

I also have 2005 RX330 and replaced the belt last year (about 145 000 km). It still was good enough (no cracks or defects, just softer than new one). You can wait until 100K miles.

Thanks all for great infos. I think I'll wait until 100K miles. I have the crankshaft pulley recall done long time ago, so I can't take the advantage of getting the good deal on replacing the timing belt.

The reason why I was worry about this timing belt was because of my friend. Not sure if that's because he always park his RX outside under the heat sun (in California). But when he replaced the timing belt (I think around 80K), he said his timing belt looked so brittle already. Plus he said it's good think he replaced it at the right time. Now, you all remind me of my old Acura TL. I had it replaced when it was 105K miles, but the technician told me it could've been replaced at 120K without any worry at all.
