New RX330 missing RDS?
My new (picked up this afternoon) 2005 RX330 doesn't have an RDS button. It has LOAD/TRAFFIC and below it a wide TYPE button. It seems to be that if I push TYPE and find a certain type of music, then push SCAN it scans through stations that play that kind of music.
Am I missing something (or is my RX330 missing something)?

I'm wondering the same thing too... if you press the TEXT button you can see part of the scrolling text from the RDS signal of the station but there is no way to get this to stay permanently on (like in my old IS300)... does anyone know of a way to keep the RDS text info for the particular station on? I like knowing what the name of the song is that is playing.

I've never played with any of the buttons (like TYPE or TEXT), but my FM presets always display a small scrolling window for the RDS text when it's provided. It shows "FM1 CH1", and then the right 1/3 of the display scrolls the data being sent by the radio station. If there's no data, it just shows the FM frequency. If the data comes and goes (poor signal), then it will sit on the last message it got - it stops scrolling.

My 2005 RX 330 doesn't have an RDS button either!
My 2005 RX330 doesn't have an RDS button either. ( bought it used this week)
Also, why don't the messages scroll? I have to keep hitting the "TEXT" button to see partial bits of information. Do some stations give you the name of the song as well as the call letters??
The information in the car's manual doesn't even seem to apply to my unit. I have the 6 cd player/ radio/ cassette. Any tipss would be welcome.

I also noticed you have to toggle through the text button on the 2005 RX330. But on my 2006 BMW 330i, it displays available information automatically. I wish the RX was this way. Sounds like it might have been for 04, but not for 05... very strange.

It may be something Lexus is changing. My 2004 GX has it and it stays on all the time, my parents 2005 ES330 does not have it. You have to hit the text button each time to see the information. I really love it on my GX and would hate to lose it!

RDS disappointment
Hey, I think Lexus missed it on the RDS. My one daughter has a 05 Vibe and my other daughter has an 05 Hyundai Tucson and both of these have an RDS system that puts my Lexus to shame. Worst part about it is that both of these vehicle together only cost about the same as my RX. Go Figure! We do have a limited amount of RDS stations in the Dakotas but I do a fair amount of traveling and find it disappointing to have to sit there and punch the button all the time. The Vibe and Tucson both scroll automatically and stay on.
