I was driving the other day and I noticed that the airbag is visible through my dash on the passenger side. It is really really annoying now and I cannot stop looking at it. It's only and outline like a litte box with and x in it, I actually think that its the perferation so the air bag can deploy. Does anyone else have this problem? I mean its not that bad but its not the perfection I pay for.

What you are seeing is what engineers call 'read through'. It is an aesthetic flaw that occurs when you either have an area of thin material or have something pressing against the area. A lot of cheaper cars exhibit this because it is tolerable. However, it should not be on a luxury brand. My RX330 does not show any read through on the passenger side airbag area. I recommend that you go to your dealer to get a warranty claim. If they try to deny it then compare it to other RX's on the lot.

On a similar note, if the passenger side airbag blows then you will have to replace the dash cover. That is a very expensive repair already but I guess that Toyota favors looks over repair costs. Plus if your airbags go off you likely totalled the car anyway.

Let us know what the dealer does. I can also, in certain lighting conditions, see the aigbag location and the >-< mark in the passenger side dash of my 4-month old RX 330..
