whisling noise ?
OK, i looked all over this site and haven't come across this one yet. My 2001 rx300 with 123k on it has this whistling noise only around 40-43 and 70-73 mph. I turn off the climate control ,radio, open and close my sunroof [ thought maybe wind noise from the roof racks] and even put it in neutral to drop the rpms but nothing seems to help. it's like a high pitch sound...any ideas ?

There can be many reasons for the noise and you may be pointing to the 'first' consumer complaint regarding 99 RX.
If you have a luggage rack and old style deflector, talk to your Lexus service rep and (s)he find out service bulletin. I found the solution to be very ugly. On my next service appointment I found my slats were moved and all the anchors were tightened such that the holes were facing the sides (try whistling. The anchor holes become your lips and the air flow is due to the RX moving through air). Check with service rep and see if they can dig up the measurements.
Lexus redesigned the deflector and the tail. Aesthetically, I like the old design (each to his own)

My RX300 has 126K miles and I am also experiencing this noise from 50-60. It seems to be coming from the engine bay. It is indeed a whistling noise and seems to only sound when it's cold outside. Doesn't happen in the summer.
