Default 2001 RX Air Con

hi

1st post here.

just purchased a 2001 rx300. All good except the air con i have a slight issue with.

the modes all switch fine with air distributing from screen to face to feet so assuming that the servo controlling this is fine. However, on low temp settings, the air coming out on the drivers side is a bit warmer than the passenger side which blows arctic cold whereas the drivers side feels a few degrees warmer.

the car doesnt have dual zone climate control - i know that there's an air mix servo but if that was not fully functioning, i'd have thought both sides temperatures would be affected? i've seen lots of threads on here about the air con mix servo and it looks to me like there's only 1 controlling both sides. Have i got this wrong? is there another servo controlling the drivers side or am i possibly looking at a blender flap sticking elsewhere?

Any other suggestions would be really appreciated.

many thanks

First a warm welcome.

Have you tried shutting (fully or partially) the passenger side to see if the air flow changes?

The ducts connections are sealed by foam and with age the foam deteriorates and you get less air in the far vent.

Hi

Have tried - the air output in the drivers vent gets a bit stronger but not colder.

I have '99RX and there is a single temp setting for passenger and driver.

I would say live with it by adjusting the direction of the air flow. Face it for driver, and bit away for the passenger.

If you really want to find out, you will have to tear into the dash and see what is going on with the duct work .. either a loss of flow or picking up heat from the surroundings. The heat exchanger is near the passenger side and if you stick a thermometer, the driver side will have some cooling loss.
