1999 RX300 Alternator Pulley Size help
Hi Everyone,
Completely new to this forum, but I am having a bit of trouble identifying the pulley size on my alternator. I have a 1999 rx300 made in 04/99. I need to replace the alternator, but I keep coming up with two separate results. It seems that there are two productions of the 1999 rx300. First production uses a 65mm pulley, and second production uses a 57mm pulley. the part number I pulled off my current original alternator is 27060-20140. The problem being I find the 57mm and 65mm alternator under that single part number. I've been digging for a few days and still cannot find anything in regards to what one I need. Any help would be awesome, as I am getting it changed tomorrow morning and need to figure out what one to buy.
Thanks,
Charlie

I have a 2001 RX300. Had belt issues and thought it was causing the electronic (dead battery) issues. I Purchased Genuine OEM Lexus 99-03 Rx300 Drive Belt Set 90080-91088-83/99366-21040-83 as I read a lot about squeeking and slipping from Gates and other belts. Changing the belts were needed but that did not fix my dead battery issue. I did not have any codes or battery lights so I decided to return the battery I just purchased. The next day I started getting the battery light in dashboard along with other coded I assume was due to the electrical issues. Had battery and alternator tested at AutoZone and was told the alternator was bad. I was not happy since I had just replaced the belts and could have saved time and replaced alternator then. Well, long story...short. I purchased a new alternator that says fits my RX. WHAT A PAIN to change the alternator. FINALLY got it bolted in and the belt will not fit now. It appears the pulley is larger than the original. I will NOT be taking the alternator out so I guess I will be looking for the correct belt for the larger pulley.. So...BEWARE of the pulley size difference. I'm guessing my original was probably the 57mm and the new one is the 65mm. I haven't measured.

Advice to all DIYer. Compare the replacement with the part you take off .. unless you are buying genuine and that too must be checked agains the vin-number of the vehicle
