? re: rear valve cover
1999 RX300. I'm replacing the valve cover gaskets and other parts and decided to replace the rear valve cover with the 'revised' version that reduces oil loss through the PCV valve. Ordered the part (p/n 11201-0A060) from an on-line retailer but they say that my VIN doesn't correspond to that p/n and they have placed my order 'on hold.' My understanding is that this will fit, even if Lexus didn't technically treat it as an updated 'superceding' part. Am I correct? TIA.

Please dig and the best I recollect is that the new valve cover will work, but you will need new PCV and possibly a different hose.
I am in the same camp as the retailer ,,, the vin number says it is not compatible (one for one swap). The risk is yours.
You can minimize the risk by digging or ensuring the part can be returned (make sure you dont install it).

If this is the same p/n I listed on my original post it will work. I am the one who first discovered this possible cure for oil consumption thru the local toyota dealer parts man. My 2000 rx300 was using a qt every 750 miles and after the cover change I barely use a pint every 4000 miles. As I said in my original post it wont help if there are mechanical issues like valve or piston problems.Good luck Larry62

I replaced my rear valve cover with the 'newer' one and it fit. Anybody need the old rear valve cover with PVC valve? Let me know; otherwise its into the trash.

I would suggest that you write about the swap in your owners manual.
