Default Looking for a mesh AT filter

I know they exist, but I cannot find one.

I don't care if it's used, just that it's intact.

Anyone have a source?

If I understand correctly, all of the replacement ones sold by Lexus are paper. If you can find an RX with a damaged or blown unrepairable transmission, maybe they would sell you the filter. That's all I can think of.

I haven't seen a new mesh filter anywhere. Check local junkyards maybe, but I don't think they would give it to you. As that requires dropping the pan of course.

I thought the metal ones were available again from Toyota. Maybe have a dealer pull Part # 35330-06010 and see what they look like.

I think this one is mesh: Part # 35330-21011

Carquest is also supposed to sell a mesh aftermarket version.

I also have this Part # as a possible fit that is mesh: 35330-28010 but I can't say for sure that it fits.

I would love to know which ones fit for sure and are mesh.

Ahh, maybe it is possible to get a new one then. LOL, here's another post that talks about part numbers:https://www.clublexus.com/forums/4513046-post134.html

I might have to buy one myself, and just replace mine with a new mesh filter, instead of cleaning my current mesh filter. It'll make the job much cleaner. LOL

I can say Lexus part number 35330-21011 was the mesh one, but it's been superceded by a new one, which is the fiber stuff.

The search continues. I'll have to call the Carquest, 'cause their site is worthless for parts searches.

Try rockauto, they sell one made by ATP and I believe that has the mesh lining, you can call them to confirm if need be.

Does any one know why Lexus switched to element filter instead of mesh? Is because of cost of production or the element filter provides better filtration?

I am almost sure that with element filter, you will need to replace it more often, while the mesh can be cleaned and re-used.

I'm going with cost.

The element one must cost less, and must be replaced. Win/win.

But, Lexus dealerships don't even replace the filter. LOL So, they only save money the first time in production, and I really doubt it's much savings. Maybe a few cents per car.

I think it has something to do with the filtration capabilities, not cost.

Yep, it was the part number I quoted in my reply which is the mesh variety.
