New tires: 225 or 235 size?
I went to my local tire place, and they suggested I but 235/70/16 tires, instead of the OEM shipped 225/70/16.
Any thoughts on whether that is necessary? Larger tires are more expensive.

Obviously with some things improvements can be made, but I have a hard time believing that tire fitments are one of them.

Go with the wider tire man, you will appreciate both the look and the grip it provides. I just got mine and couldn't believe it came stock with some thin 225's. My wifes old G6 came with that width. Mine will be due soon and I hope to fit 245's if I can. Get the 235's!

I've been running 235-70-16 for 9 years on Michelin CrossTerrains and they run quite nicely. Felt a bit more like on top of a tank the first time I drove on them. There is not really that much of a hit in the mpg with these tires. However, being only about 15K or so on this particular set, I may move to something different next time just for speed, acceleration, etc.
