Chrome rims chipped
I recently bought a used 2000 RX300. One of the chromed rims has a chunk of chrome missing about the size of a finger nail, almost as if a rock has hit it.
Will this spread?
Is this covered under any warranty?
Thanks.

I have a '99 RX with some chips on the chrome wheels. One, I did myself by getting too close to a curb while parking, and WHAM. The chips appear stable, and haven't shown any signs of spreading. My chips are on the very outer edge of the wheel, closest to the tire.
Warranty? Possibly. Unless you can prove the chip is due to a manufacturing problem (like a defective plating process), you'll have to live with your chip. Defective plating would look like a bubble under the chrome surface that eventually peeled off. The chip's position may be a clue too. If it's at the outer edge of the rim (like mine), it's likely road damage (i.e., non-warranty). If it's somewhere that's normally not vulnerable to rocks, curbs, etc. then you may have a legitimate claim.
Good luck!
