I recently bought a used 2000. One of the chromed rims has a chunk of chrome missing about the size of a finger nail, almost as if a rock has hit it.

Will this spread?
Is this covered under any warranty?

Well, if its not protected by some kind of coating, rust may develop at the section of the chip. Trying getting it rechromed at your local rim/tire/custom shops.
