i like the new look of the taillights on the rx. i have a 99 model and was wondering if it was compatible. Is the wires and bulbs the same? and if anyone has done this. If it is possible i was also wondering where the cheapest place would be to get the lights. i want some really bad.

Actually I think it will work. I think the only difference is the 99 has a red lining and the 2001 has a chrome lining. Try Ebay...or a junk yard...or http://store.yahoo.com/lexusparts (e-mail Hiro there)

This was from a previous post (?subject). Looks like it can work with some effort
Yes, you need to modify a little. Here is my instruction.
"1). There are 1 wire per light and each wire have 2 bulb’s mold. (brake & back up light), (brake & turn signal light).
2). For the outside lights. The light cover is fit and the new wiring of the outside lights is about the same except the turn signal bulb’s mold. So I replaced the old wire with the new one. To do that, I disassembled some body panels.
3). For the inner lights. The light cover is also fit but the new wiring of the inner lights is totally different from 99’ RX. There is no connector for the new wire so I have to use the original wiring. But the original bulbs’ molds are slightly different from the new one so they do not fit the light’s cover. So I trim it until it fit.
I spent almost 3 hours for the installation and it was very easily just time consumming. Oh, I love the look! Good luck."

Thanks Francis, I was actually quoting you from a previous post.
I'm still shopping for a cheaper price. Someone (TN3) had mentioned they were getting the entire kit for $250. This is more than 50% off the dealer price. Still waiting to confirm that lower price.

No problem
I have done this right when the 2001 model came out.
The best place I found was at "Irontoad.com" for the parts. Cost about $550. The wireing is different, but buy a pact od 10butt connectors and spend about two hours and you have one of the nicest modifications on the market (in my opinion). I have also put some "18s on the truck w/ 255/55. People on here said that it would not fit. I called ALBA (manufacturer for the rims( and they helped me. The rim is spooth and the dealer retains all warranties. I also dod a lot of sterio mods. I wan t a nics skid plate to finish off the front(it looks unfinished at the bottom). What have you done?
