Completed the first oil change. Attached a photo of the original Lexus/Toyota filter and the Amsoil filter that I installed - for a comparison.
The original filter has a lot of pleats, but they are tightly sandwiched together which makes them somewhat less effective from my perspective.
I sent an oil sample for analysis, just to see if there are any initial problems with the engine. I'll post the results when I get them back.

Just curious, Did you use Mobil 1? My 14 RX is due soon and have yet to buy the oil. It seems like there are 20 different versions of Mobil 1. If you did buy Mobil, which version did you buy?
I'm hoping W-Mart has it. This will be the first time I've changed the oil on this RX and I have yet to pick up a filter wrench. I might call the Toyota dealer and see what they have. Are people setting the torque on the filter cap? I have a torque wrench and would like to set it to spec. if possible.

I used Amsoil "Signature Series" 0w20.

I didnt use a torque wrench - just my "calibrated" hand

I too just calibrate my oil filter tightness by hand, relying on my experience to get it right. I would not trust a torque wrench at that low a level on something that fragile. And I don't want to buy an inch torque wrench for this. Get it hand tight, then place the wrench over it and go another quarter turn or so. I can feel it tighten up.

You need 0w-20. The Toyota version is made by Mobil to their specifications and according to the gurus at www.bobistheoilguy.com who have done VOA and UOA on the stuff, it is better than any other version of Mobil 1 0w-20. It is designed for the Toyota recommended 10,000 oil change interval. It is all I buy for my 2 Lexus'. Not much more than Mobil 1. However, any of the brand name synthetic 0w-20 oils are more than capable of protecting your engine. Pennzoil makes a great oil too!

I get my Mobil1 at Walmart 0-20. It usually runs around $24 for the five quart jug. I buy my filters from Lexus World for $6 each. Use cl10 for a 10% discount. I take the oil and filter to my local Toyota dealer who charges me $20 labor.

I use the Mobil1 0W20 Advanced Fuel Economy for my car. There are two 0W20's. This one has the green label.

As for the torque settings:
18ft-lbs / 25N m for oil filter cap to oil pan
10ft-lbs / 13N m for the oil filter drain plug to oil filter cap
30ft-lbs / 40N m for oil pan drain plug to oil pan

Got the results back. Everything looks ok for a first oil change.
The silicon levels are very high, but that is due to residual casting sand. The copper levels are somewhat higher than I expected due to initial bearing wear-in but I expect it to be back in spec at the next change.
