Default RX rear upper spoiler dissection

I recently helped a friend replace a broken rear spoiler on a 2010 Smoky Granite Mica RX450h. He had hit a garage door. Since he already had a replacement, I decided to take it apart and try to fix it. Sorry the images are taking with a smartphone, so not so good quality.

The upper section and lower section are glued together but was separated by a trim removal tool. The two side trim pieces are clipped on. I have already started to repair the broken piece which had multiple fractures and chips. More pictures to come.

UPDATE : While this isn't a "how to" to fix the spoiler I will show how its going so far.

There were far more hairline cracks than I thought. The cracks needed to be drilled to stop from spreading. They were then fill with the same plastic epoxy used to join the broken pieces together.

I first dry fitted the large broken piece back to the spoiler. I used painters tape to hold in in place while a cut the channel where the crack is, making the crack bigger. This is to insure that the epoxy has enough surface area to stick to. I over filled the channel is epoxy on purpose to make sure there wasn't any low spots. It will be sanded down later.

After the epoxy dries, I removed the tape and cut a channel in the opposite side and fill it with epoxy.

Because the lip didn't line up straight, I needed to use filler to smooth out the curve as well as shave down the portion that was sticking out. You can see it in a couple of the images.

After both sides are dry its time to sand down any high spots. I used 220 grit wet/dry sand paper and then 500 grit paper when I though it was flat enough.

Up to this point it took some time because it takes 24 hours for the epoxy to cure, only to find more cracks the next day. More to come.
