Buying advice on high mileage 2012 RX350
All,
Currently looking to buy a 2012 RX350 with 118k miles.
Lexus service history is extensive.
Asking price is 24k.
Dealership tells me that the owner was a salesman, travelling mostly highway miles.
Tell me what you think. What is it worth?
Appreciate the feedback.

Water pump...nope...nowhere found in the service records. Unless, I should search for some other term. Service record is quite extensive, I believe the car was definitely cared for....
Thanks PLamarine!

I will say this...
I have crawled this forum for about a month, researching the 2012 and newer models...along with crawling online car buying sites....
I have not seen/heard mention of any 2012 or newer with more than 100k miles....so this vehicle is definitely unique with its high mileage and young age....I guess, right?

When I was traveling for work I was putting 40,000 a year on my vehicles. It looks well maintained. What is the condtion of the exterior and interior? Most will not touch this car because of the miles which is good for your bargaining power. Kelly Blue Book and NADA has the retail value from a dealer at $20,800 and $20,900. Since you did not mention, I used with no nav and fwd.

Seems expensive. Last year we purchased a 2010 CPO with 49k for $25.5. I just did a nationwide search for all the CPO vehicles until I got a sense of the asking prices. Once I found a good one within driving range we got it.
YMWV of course though!
Good luck. Shopping is sometimes pretty fun!

I think the condition is excellent. There is a scratch on the hood and on the back, but pretty clean everywhere else. Leather seats are in good condition. See for yourself: http://1drv.ms/1Pi1rSu
Yes, I agree that I should be able to bargain on this vehicle...I'm thinking 19k.
Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I've thought about going with an older 3RX(2010-2011) but I like the features of the 2012.
Just preference, I guess. My real preference is a 2013, but MMML(My Money, My Life) won't support that much($$$) car.

I wouldn't have any problem buying that car if the price is right. There's no need to worry about the water pump. That was done on the older 3.3 and 3.0 engines that had timing belts since removing the pump was part of the process. You'll almost certainly sell it before the water pump ever fails. Don't worry about the extended warranty. It's highly unlikely that you'll ever get your money back on it. I never understood why Lexus owners are so afraid of miles on their cars. They are the most dependable vehicles in the history of the automobile.
Highway miles are easier on the car because it runs at a steady speed and temperature for a long time. City miles require lots of accelerating and braking, and likely having the engine turned off and on many times. Machines run better at a steady state.

I agree that highway miles are easier on the car than in city.
I have a 2007 car which is over 230k miles , but in very good condition coz I used to drive it 125 miles a day in a highway.
I think it would be a good deal for you if you could get it by 19k .
Later on if you want to sell it, you wouldn't lose much , good luck with it and make sure you have it inspected.

Thanks all, for the good insight.
I made the purchase last week on this 2012 RX350 with 118k miles.
Drove it to Atlanta, this past weekend for the BGE Eggtoberfest.
Excellent drive, and handled great.
I feel more than confident in its reliability.
Heck, why not?! My ES300 has 194k.

If you don't mind me asking what was the final price?
