If the Lexus added wear and tear protection / coverage is anything like Lincoln's wear tear coverage you should be covered. With Lincoln's, there is upto $7,500 worth of damage covered for $750 paid for at time of lease. Like you said, if you can handle looking at it for the next 3 years. If I had leased my RX, I would've gotten the added Lexus wear and tear protection. With the Lincoln it was a no brainer for me since I leased it.

Since GEICO has accident forgiveness you may want to hold out for a "real" accident (hoping you don't get into one).

Good luck with what you decide. Keep us updated.

I have similar plan with Lexus. Only issue is I may have to wait until end of the lease.

First of all, I REALLY dislike insurance companies, and this is one example of why. You pay through the nose for coverage that is mandated, but when you actually need it you're afraid to use it because of the increased cost that will result!

Mistakes often have consequences. While you clearly want to minimize the impact of a mistake, you don't have to punish yourself for it every day, and that's exactly what you would be doing if you don't get it repaired. It would drive me crazy to have a new car with that damage, and it would make me angry at myself AND the insurance company every time I saw it for the next 3 years. My recommendation is that you get it fixed by a shop (not the dealer) that will make it disappear, and pay the price of the increased insurance rates. At least you'll only see that damage when you make the payment, and not every time you drive your beautiful new car.

My 2 cents
