Default I bought a 2015 RX450h *I THINK*

Made the deal yesterday but I didn't pick it up until today because I needed my F150 for one more day.
See this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ew-or-cpo.html

Well when I went to sign paperwork, Lexus Financial could not access my Equifax credit report. Seems there is a "Legislative Freeze" on my account. Equifax wanted my 10 digit PIN number to clear it. What???

Well the dealer had already transferred the registration from our CT200h to the 450h. I signed all paperwork including the Lexus Financial long Buyers order.

They were able to confirm we both had 822+ beacon scores on TRW and Experian but Lexus runs the deal through a Equifax system and it would not allow them to finalize the deal. I'm financing only about 40% of MSRP since my trade equity covered the remaining balance.

The reason for the credit hassle is that China broke into the OPM database and my wife is retired Federal Employee.

Equifax will not remove the freeze on the phone. They want me to mail them a copy of my DL, 1099 and/or utility bill showing that I'm really me. I did that this evening but they said it's going to take 7-10 days to clear the freeze.

I have the new RX, new registration but not sure how this will play out.

I opted for the 0.9% 36 month deal. I called the dealer tonight and offered to pay cash if they would reduce the price another $1,000, if not I could just bring the 450h back and pick up my 2 trades.

I called PenFed and was going to do their 1.49% for 48 months but they also run through Equifax and they could not complete the application due to the freeze.

Well tonight we went for a drive and the left rear parking sensor alerts any time I put the car in reverse. Probably a bad sensor.

As rosanne rosannadanna used to say "if it's not one thing its another."

I had a similar situation when selling my home in FL. The buyer had paid cash (using the proceeds from the sale of his home) for mine. Because he had a common Latin last name ( think drug smugglers in S. FL.) the feds put a 24 hr hold on the money until they could confirm where he got the money from. As the closing on my new home was the next day we all ended up waiting several hours for the money to be paid. Thankfully, the seller of my new home was a trusting person and allowed the deal to go through without the cash. Very upsetting to me and I'm sure the Latin fellow who bought my home would have been pissed if he knew it.

Dealer could not get around the credit Freeze on me at Equifax. I don't know how or when it was frozen. There were 3 separate notifications I received that my credit info may have been compromised. Two on government sites (OPM and VA) and one stolen FAA laptop.

I tried everything to get the freeze lifted but Equifax requires request in writing, so I sent them the required documents Friday. It's supposed to take 7-10 days to clear the freeze.

Lexus financial was willing to finance it and title it under my wife's name, but I wanted both names on the title as Mr. OR Mrs. That way either of us can sell or trade it if the other is not "available." You think about those things when your old and retired.

So, to put this to rest i wrote a check for the remaining balance not covered by the trade equity.

That's one way to put an end to it. At least the dealer worked with you. Now go enjoy the 450h!
