Opinions on stereo

The 12 speaker system in a loaner I had recently sounded a lot better than the 12 speaker system I have in my 2010. I think the 2013+ system is digital as it now support surround.

That the ML, on the RX is inferior to other brands.
A JBL on a RAV4 sounded better, using the same source ( CD )
The JBL Only needed a +2 bass and +3 on the treble.
Again, the flaw ( RX 350) is in the trunk space.

My sales guy told me that Pioneer makes the basic stereo. I'm happy with it and I'm pretty picky about my rock music. I've replaced the stereos (and speakers, and added subs) in both my Mustangs (Ford's basic radio sucks). I can totally live with the stereo in the RX 350.

It's hard to believe that someone who has done after market stereos with subs would find the bass in the rx any good. In my estimation there is very little output below 50-60 cycles, if that. As my earlier post in this thread describes, I added a Rockford Fosgate powered sub in the cargo area with improved results, more bass impact and opens up the whole sound. Regards. Ned.

I have a 2013 RX F-Sport with ML and my wife has a 2014 RX350 w/o ML. My ML system has a little bit tighter bass and the treble is a wee bit clearer, especially with higher volume levels. Overall I can say that the difference is really not that noticeable. Both my wife and I have our iPods hooked up to the system 95% of the time. The one improvement both systems could benefit from is a subwoofer. The bass levels in both cars fall short which is a shame considering how good they could be from the factory. I just had a sub installed in my car last week and it is a night and day difference. Other than that, not sure I can say the ML system is worth $1k more.

Sound sounds different to each of us. The salesman may believe the sound is as good or better from his own experience.
I had a choice between the two systems in my 2014 RX350 and found that, for me, there is not a great deal of sound quality difference noticeable in a moving vehicle to justify the added cost of ML. That is likely due to my very old ears and that I supported a howitzer battalion in the Army when I was young. OOW, my hearing is far from perfect.
The best advice I can offer is to take a few of your favorite CDs to the dealer and listen to them in each. You decide what you can hear, not us, or your salesman. Also listen to the systems while on the road. The RX350 cabin is not very quiet.
