Tow Prep Package Presence 2010-2012 (13 Maybe?)
#31
Hi All,
Sorry for the newb question, but I searched the forums and couldn't find any information. I am looking to purchase a ball mount for my hitch, but I am seeing conflicting information.
The mount that Sewell sells looks like it has a 0" drop:
http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2010/2598.html
However I remember other forum members purchased the Curt towing starter kit with 2" drop:
http://www.thehitchstore.com/curt-to...ll-p-3955.html
Also, it sound like a 2" ball is the way to go? And what about the length of the ball mount?
I will most likely be using it to tow u-haul trailers on vacations so I am looking for a one-size-fits-all application.
Thanks,
Eric

Lead Lap
Regardless of the descriptions, they both look to have the same drop, near zero.
A correct drop depends on the heights of both vehicles, the RX and the trailer.
Ball size............last time I rented a car float the ball receiver was adjustable & would work on almost any size.
It would pay to make a phone call & confirm before you go to pick up the trailer.

After some research, it turns out there is no standard trailer hitch height. Boat hitches seem to average 18" and an average trailer is somewhere between 15-17". U-Haul trailers say not to exceed 25". So a 2" ball and 2" drop sounds like the most versatile ball mount you can get for our RXs.
This does not really answer the question of the length of the ball mount though!

I don't tow with my RX but, I use this with my other vehicles.
I've never seen a manufacturer short themselves on features before but,
this drawbar has 16 different heights, not 8 like the box implies.
It actually has a 2" drop, which isn't even listed on the box.
Overall length is 18"
Hitch pin hole to ball hole is 13.5"
I think it was $30 (without a ball).
