2013 RX 350 Silver / Black.. waiting for delivery
Hi All,
My past has been Toyotas, Hondas and Suzukis. Am new here and to the world of luxury vehicles. Please be easy on me.
Just bought a brand new 2013 Touring in Canada. The dealer's trying to sell a few things like
1) Electronic corrosion control module from First Canadian Paint Protection ~ $800-1000
He says that with this module, corrosion control paint on the bottom of the car is not required. Not sure if this will work. There are mixed reviews on the internet.
2) 4 year life body wax
3) 2 yr extension on bumper to bumper ~$1500
4) 3M paint protection film ~ $2000 (after market research shows about $800)
5) They don't do under body coating because of the corrosion module mentioned in point 1
In my past purchases, I always got the one layer top protection and under body protection and done...
dilemma is -
what all is a good to have for the car?
what things can I wait for 6 months without causing any damage...
Thanks for your help

They are all high margin items for the dealer to increase their profit at the time of sale.
I would pass on all except the 3M film and have that one done by a local installer for around the price you noted. The paint on the 3rd Gen is notoriously soft and that's especially noticeable on the leading edges that catch small road debris. I'd have that done the same week you buy the car if you can - few things are more disappointing on a new car than seeing that first tiny chip in the paint.

I bought that color combo back in Sept and am well pleased with it. I ordered the 3M film that is pre cut from clearmask.com and had it put on by an expert making my install price of about $660. Besides the protective film I've added body side moldings, tinted front windows, trailer hitch and a few other small items. The '13 rides and drives better than the '10 I had. I didn't buy any of the dealer offered extras. I know you are going to love it.

Thanks guys.. I'll get the 3M installed from the market. I checked with a couple of guys and they said that many dealers get them installed from them.
Will not put the corrosion module and will not get tinting done as well.
Still undecided on the rust proofing the car's bottom.

4 year body wax?? That has gotta be a joke! Ive had swissvax reflexus on my black lexus rx300 i used to own and that barely lasted a year! Theres no chance a body wax can last 4 years.
