Them be some damned fine seals
So my wife's been telling me for weeks that she hears something slapping around when she closes her door. And for weeks I've been telling her she's nuts and it is just the seatbelt slapping around due to the compression when the door closes. So I've gone through about 12 high pressure washes during that time. Also rain storms, snow, ice, etc.
This past Saturday while filling up she got out and closed her door again insisting something is smakcing around. Again I am prone to think I know everything and she doesn't (big mistake) and again tell her it is the seatbelt. So I walk over to demonstrate this to her. Ummm... NOT the seatbelt. Seems my passenger rear window is smacking around and causing the racket she's been hearing. CRAP... something is wrong with the window alignment and I am going to have to take it back to the dealer. Then I think of something - I get into the driver seat, turn on the car, lift up the right rear window button and "thunk".
Anyway I politely apologized and we went about our business and later I owed her a martini and a nice dinner. Oops.
Seems the rear window was open EVER so slightly that it was just a little away from being completely closed. That caused it to visibly rattle back and forth when she closed her door due to the compression. I just couldn't her it on my side when I closed my door.
What amazed me was how many times I should have noticed leaks on the inside of that window yeat didn't throughout all the cleaning that I've been doing. Them be some damned fine seals

Funny story. Them there Lexus seals I guess set a standard. I've never had a "drip problem" in any of my Lexi, including my Sc430 with that magical top. My former BMW on the other hand was something I'd never use a pressure washer on, and I learned where to not put too much hose pressure on either. While one of the main seals had to be replaced on the BMW convertible top immediately after delivery, the service dept just told me to not use too much pressure on remaining problem areas. My take was they had heard that before, and the customer just needed to change their ways. (Guess why there are no more German cars in my stable... Not that I'm biased to Lexus or anything. )
