30,000 miles service
Hi everyone... I'm new here. I have a 2010 Silver RX350. Love my car... I always have a recommended service every 5000 miles. But what really hit me this time is the price of 30,000 miles recommended service which my dealer asked for $485 + tax. They said it's a major check up for every 30,000 miles. I'm not a savvy person when it comes to mechanic stuff. How much do you pay for yours? should I do it? Thank you so much for your advice.

Aside from an RX 350, I also have a 2009 Toyota Camry SE. I paid close to that amount when I had the 30,000 miles service work on the Camry. If that makes you feel any better.

There are do it yourself maintenance that are included in the 30,000 miles package.
If you do them yourself you can ask the service advisor to take it Off, thus saving you some money.
Examples are changing oil and filter, changing air filter, rotating tires etc

$485.00 plus tax for the 30K service seems reasonable assuming the 30K service includes: Oil change, oil filter, rotate tires, replace ACC filter, engine filter, brake fluid, electronic key battery, reset maintenace reminder light, windshield wiper. Replace rear differential oil, transfer oil case

You can get it done for ~$150
Mobil 1 96995 Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil 7 qrts $60 - from AutoZone
Oil Filter part number 04152-YZZA1 $6 - from Toyota parts
FRAM CF10285 Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter $19 - from Amazon
K&N 33-2443 Replacement Air Filter (engine air filter) $40 - from Amazon
(These are great quality products, equal or better than those used by Lexus)
Go to a small body shop that you really, really trust and have them put these on in 10 minutes. They shouldn't charge you more than $20-30 to do this.
There's really no point of going to a Lexus dealer unless you really need that to sleep well.

If you went to the Lexus dealer and stated you want your brake fluid changed, oil changed and tire rotation, it would cost about $225. The cabin and air filters as stated below can be changed in five minutes for both will cost $40. Total cost is $265.
I never go in a say I want the 10,000, 30,000 or 50,000 mile service. Every 10,000 miles ask for an oil change and tire rotation at the Lexus/Toyota dealership. This should be less than $80. Every 30,000 miles the brake fluid needs to be changed and about $100. Every 20,000 miles change the air and cabin filters. This combined takes five minutes and the air filter can be bought on line at Lexus Parts World for $18. The cabin air filter can be bought at Walmart for $18, It is the Fram Fresh Breeze #10285 with carbon and baking soda to filter the air. Wiper blade inserts again can be bought at Lexus Parts World for $20 for both refills and takes five minutes to replace. You are done until 100,000 miles. At Lexus Parts World use cl5 in the promo code for 10% discount. If you go in an ask for the 10,000, 20,000 30,000 maintenance you will be paying big bucks for a lot more items you do not need checked and inspected. Once a year replace the key fob battery cr2032. Keep receipts for everything. I take my oil filter bought at Lexus Parts World and 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 purchased at Walmart for $24 to my local Toyota dealer and they charge me $15 labor for the oil and $20 for the tire rotation.
