Default RX 350 Auto Glass UV Protection

I specifically asked for UVA/UVB protection level and they came back with this.

Just wondering if anyone here have more in-depth knowledge to verify this.I specifically asked for UVA/UVB protection level and they came back with this.

We appreciate your inquiry regarding the UV protection on the 2010 RX 350. Below are the specifications on the UV glass protection:

- Front windshield: 100%
- Sliding roof: 95.4%
- Front doors: 100%
- Rear doors: 95.4%
- Rear quarter: 94.1%
- Back door: 94.1%

I'm particularly skeptical with the front door "100%" protection. My left arm got super tanned from driving last summer before I had my Hu Op Ceramics on. From then, I don't see any uneven tanning between my L/R arms.
Anyway, to my limited knowledge, Solar green glass does not come close to any aftermarket tint films for UV blockage. Is there some other coatings that Lexus have on their glass?? Really looking for some input here... hmmm

Is your 2010 RX an early-production car? They had single-pane front door window glass, whereas later ones had acoustic (laminated, like the front windshield) glass. That might account for experiencing tanning of your left arm.

I do have the acoustic glass with the sandwiched layer. Thanks BCR for clarifying this.

The following gives a partial answer, although it doesn't specifically address your question:

http://lexus2.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/99

How much protection does the UV glass provide?

UV-A is the component of sunlight that causes a tan.
UV-B is the component of sunlight that causes a sunburn.
UV-C is absorbed by the ozone layer and does not reach the earth's surface.
IR is the component of sunlight that transmits heat.
Ulta-Violet (UV) Blocking
The glass of our vehicles greatly reduce UV-A and almost completely blocks UV-B. Up to 92% of UV is blocked. UV blocking both helps protect occupants and helps delay aging of the interior upholstery.

Infra-Red (IR) Blocking
The glass of our vehicles reduces IR by up to 73%. IR blocking helps reduce interior temperatures, so the occupants will be more comfortable, the AC system will have to work less hare, and as a result, the car will get better gas mileage.

Caveat
UV and IR blocking rates can vary slightly from one window position to another. Also, blocking rates are not constant; over the wavelength spectrum of UV and IR, which is why we list the maximum blocking percentages.
