Default Handle in cupholder

On a new-to-me 2007 RX 350, there is what feel like a spring loaded handle in the back of the center console cupholder. (As in put your fingers into the cupholder and curl them toward the backseat.)

Nothing seems to unlock when I lift it, so I have no idea what it is... It must have some purpose, perhaps a bracket to hold something or a latch for compartment?

Thanks for any info, I just bought it this weekend and it's the first toyota product in the family, so I'm on my own here.

Welcome!

The handle you're referring to is to slide the console forward or backward. Instead of squeezing the handle and pulling up, try sliding the whole console backward (towards the rear seat) or forward (towards the dash), depending on it's current position. If there's barely an inch between it and the dash, it's in the most forward position. If you see a try on the floor in front of it, with a gap of several inches between it and the dash, it's likely in the most rearward position.

Another seemingly inoperative feature is the headlight washer button (lower dash by the seat heaters).
The pump sprays windshield washer fluid on the lenses - when the headlights are turned on! If you
try to use in in the daytime or at night with the lights forced off - nothing.

Have you discovered that pressing the remote fob "unlock" button continuously opens the windows
and sunroof to vent a hot car? Insert the key in the drivers door cylinder and twist CCW to close
them all.
