2007 rx350 - engine oil issue & cam actuators
I bought this car used with 108k miles. Weeks after my first oil change 113k miles, I heard knocking in the engine and brought it back in to Lexus. They originally thought it was the transmission, but then realized there was almost no oil in the car. They replaced the oil cooler hose, which was found to be the cause, at no cost. Refilled the oil, and there were no more issues. Next 5k miles, I bring it back for an oil change, and now the seal under the timing cover needs replacing. I got the price down from $3600 to $1300, and gave them the ok. When they took the engine apart to get to the seal, they called and said both cam actuators are poping out and need to be replaced. Another $1600. I requested it be covered because it sounds like it could have been caused from the lack of oil when the cooler hose failed (hence the knocking nose I heard). After 3 weeks, the warranty manager denied the claim. I am planning to call corporate and get them involved. Anyone else have this issue, or any suggestions??

2007 RX does not have the 350 engine on it. Did you mean 2007 RX330?

The 350 was used on the 2009 RX350.

my 2007 is a 3.5. I had an issue just out of warranty and went through the web site and nicely complained. That got it done. It's in the shop now with a locked up compressor(only 135k) that is a bundle to repair but a free loaner car for 4 days. And I'm 3 hours away from the dealership.
I don't trust the local Toyota dealership to fix it. Tried them on a alignment..after meeting at the appointed time...waiting 3 hours...wife not happy...they said sorry and there is no charge because of the wait. I drove it and no change. Next time she was in Houston she dropped it off. They wrote up how some of the hardware was hard to get loose and it took a while but they got it. So the local dealership just gave up without saying they didn't do anything. While lexus aligned it she had a loaner to get around town. Worth it!
