Default RX350 rear end noise squeaks groans rubbing sounds

I had this problem before on my 2009 RX350 and took it to the dealer - they were stumped at first but eventually figured out it was the spare tire making noise every time I made a turn into a driveway or went over a little hill/bump.

They did something to adjust it or tighten it and the jack etc. and it went away. Now the sound is back, big time and I'm hoping someone might have instructions on how to adjust the spare to get rid of this. Also if there's a hack to pad or insulate the spare that would be great.

Any ideas?

I also found another thread on a similar thing but it's talking about struts, shocks and trailing arms on 3rd generations. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...on-squeek.html

Should be easy to make sure the spare is raised up fully. Just read the owners manual for instructions on changing a flat tire. There is a bolt head in the right trunk under floor storage compartment that you turn to raise and lower the spare.

Thanks - I'm not sure it's just a matter of lower/raise and tightening, but worth a try... I was hoping for tips and hacks to insulate it, if anyone has experience doing this.

No hack necessary - once I figured out where the large nut for lowering the spare was hidden (under a black plastic cap/cover in one of the back secret compartments), The spare lowered easily and surprisingly quickly. I did notice it was a little TOO easy to lower (slightly loose) so when I brought it back up and tightened it - I gave it a lot more tightening. Problem solved - all the noises are gone!

Thank you a for the solution to one my problems - the car starting to slightly 'groan or creak' in tighter corners and I could not figure out what the problem was. I read your posts and the penny dropped - that it HAD to be the spare. Indeed it was - I believe Lexus dealer did not tighten it 'up' sufficiently. There was another nearly 1/2 turn on the large nut available, and since - heaven!! - noise has ceased. So: thank you again!
