Outside Temp Reading "Sluggish"
For the last week or so I have been dealing with a sluggish outside temperature reading.
When I first noticed this issue last Thursday, I was driving on hot day here in So Cal, it had to be a good 91 degrees yet in the display it was only showing 71 degrees. When I saw the outside temp in the navigation display I thought, there is not way it is 71 degrees right now.
First thing I did was to reach for the connector leading to the temperature sensor located right in front of the radiator to wiggle it to make sure I didn't have a bad connection but it felt snug. While doing that I thought about completely disconnecting the sensor and plug it back in, so I did but that did not help. The outside temp was still showing 71 degrees. One thing that I have to mention is that when I disconnected the outside temp sensor it was still showing 71 degrees in the nav screen and thought that it is kind of odd that I am still getting a reading with the sensor completely disconnected.
So I searched this forum regarding this issue and found a thread recommending to replace the outside temp sensor. I purchased a brand new OEM outside temp at my local Toyota dealer (Toyota was a few bucks cheaper than Lexus). Last Saturday morning I removed the old outside temp sensor located in front of the radiator with the brand new unit I just bought from the dealer but I am still seeing sluggish reading in the nav display. Further more, if I completely unplug the outside temp sensor I still get a reading.
Any ideas ?
