Why does my RX350 run worse on higher octane fuel?
hi all
I've noticed this happens on my car everytime I fill up with 98RON instead of 95 RON fuel (in Australia).
The minimum required for the 2007 RX350 is 95, but occasionally I thought it would be good to use 98 for a bit of performance, and to clean the engine internally.
However everytime I use it, the response to throttle inputs seems slightly laggy, rather than more performance. Also the economy worsens dramatically, despite my deliberately driving more smoothly with the aim of improving economy!
This is all within the first 100km of changing fuel.
Any ideas what causes this?

+1 for jakenbake. I would recommend you stay with 95 RON. I would also run a fuel maintenance product to the fuel tank like BG44K. Lexus used that exact product on my 2007 and it made a big improvement in performance.
