2008 RX 350, need subwoofer
Hi all,
I bought a used 2008 RX 350 last month. It has the Navigation system but has the stock stereo which Lexus calls as "Premium Audio", although, after listening to it for quite a while I realized it has nothing "premium" about it. I also have a 2002 Acura 3.2 TL-S with Bose speakers and the Acura's sound system is so much better than the "premium" Lexus system. I regret not waiting for any models with the Mark Levinson system now. I thought the Lexus "premium" audio would rival the Acura's factory-installed Bose system and I was content with that.
The problem I have with the current sound system is that I find it very flat and non-immersive. The music seems as if it is coming from a distance and you don't feel that you are "there". The Acura's Bose system gives a really immersive experience.
I was thinking of adding a powered sub-woofer to the RX and went to Car Toys. They showed me a gigantic 10" Kenwood down-firing sub-woofer (cost for woofer + installation was around $650!!) which would be put in my cargo area. It looked ugly and I did not want to use up space in the already small cargo space in the RX. So they said they could put it in a fiber-glass enclosure next to the spare wheel where it won't be visible but the cost would be a whopping $1200. I don't want to spend $1200 for a sub-woofer coz I ain't Bill Gates.
So what are my options? Has anyone else added a sub-woofer to the stock stereo. Was it worth it? Any pictures that I can look at? Any ideas of how the sub-woofer can be hidden?
Thanks

Welcome to Club Lexus, eefiasfira.
Like many questions you might have about your RX, this has been discussed previous. You need only to use the search features of the forum or use Google and include "clublexus.com" in your search criteria.
If you had searched you might have found something like the following, though there are plenty more:
