Default HELP! Need to get my 30k service and don't want to pay almost $500 to do it!

I just got some local quotes in the Seattle area approaching almost $500 for 30k service from the local Lexus dealers. I am just wondering if that is high and also is there anywhere else that is reputable that I can have do the 30k service?

$500 seems about right to me. Guess yo should look for an independent or become a DIY if you want to save a few bucks. Or buy a Hundai. LOL! I'd expect most Lexus dealers would be in the $500 ballpark.

❏ Replace air conditioner filter
❏ Replace brake fluid
❏ Replace engine air filter
❏ Inspect the following:
***____Ball joints and dust covers
***____Body (see page 87)
***____Brake lines and hoses
***____Brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs
***____Drive shaft boots
***____Exhaust pipes and mountings
***____Fuel lines and connections, fuel
***____tank band and fuel tank vapor
***____vent system hoses
***____Fuel tank cap gasket
***____Rack and pinion assembly
***____Steering linkage and boots
***____Transmission, transfer case and
***____differential oil

❏ Replace engine oil and oil filter
❏ Rotate tires
❏ Road test vehicle

Additional Maintenance Items for Special Operating Conditions:
❏ Inspect nuts and bolts on chassis and body
❏ Inspect transmission fluid
❏ Replace differential oil
❏ Replace transfer case oil

You should keep detailed records of vehicle maintenance, including date of service, mileage at time of service and a description of service and/or parts installation performed.

Lexus will not deny a warranty claim solely because you do not have records to show that you maintained your vehicle. However, damage or failures caused by lack of proper maintenance are not covered under warranty.

Maintenance and repair services may be performed by you or by any automotive service provider you choose. Lexus will not deny a warranty claim solely because you used a service provider other than a Lexus dealership for maintenance and repairs. However, damage or failures caused by improper maintenance or repairs are not covered under warranty.

Your dealer may recommend more frequent maintenance intervals or more maintenance services than those listed in the scheduled maintenance log. These additional services are not required to maintain your warranty coverage. Ask your dealer for an explanation of any recommended maintenance not included in the scheduled maintenance log.

So changing the oil, flush the brakes, change two filters, rotate tires and "look around" is worth $500?? oh I forgot you get an espresso and a loaner...

Sounds like 1.5 hrs max. DIY for $60.

You should also check with your local Toyota dealer for a lower price.

DIY is the best way, but Toyota dealer is the other best option.

Thanks for posting up the schedule, I work for a dealer and since there is nothing that seems to be specific to the hybrid system in this service I will just have my dealer do it.

The hybrid may well have some specific items. You didn't mention you had a hybrid in your OP. The posted list is for a RX330. Check your maintenance supplement for specifics for your vehicle.
