My 2004 RX330 Hood Strut is not supportive any more
My 2004 RX330 hood strut is not able to support the hood any more, can not remain supportive after hood opened to the top. Is there any having same problem? Do you know how to make it supportive without replacement? For replacement, the strut on the market does not come with the bracket which connects with the body, because the bracket can not be taken apart from the strut. It means only the strut coming with bracket from dealership can be installed. Does anyone know this issue? Thanks!

Hood support replacement, I did my 95 Camry and it was a breeze.
I beg to disagree on the RX330, I have the manual and hope this attachment helps. Good luck.

Thank you for this manual, same as what I thought.
Do you happen to know if the bracket (attached to vehicle body) can be taken apart from strut? It means - can I replace the strut without replacing bracket? Those OEM RX330 struts in the market do NOT come with the bracket, like the manual shows?

You re-use them, have done it on another Toyota.

I had just found that the brand of "Stabilius" (Toyota OEM) strut comes with the piece of metal for attaching this strut to the body of vehicle. Thank you.

I bought the same brand. But it was so hard to take off the connector, I just plugged in the new strut into the existing connector, done! Do a DIY if you can, will help some folks in the future. Take pics at least.

I just replaced my hood strut. The bracket that attaches to the body of the vehicle and the piston are one piece. I unbolted both ends and ground the two pieces apart with a dremel at the lower joint. Took me about 10 minutes. I reattached the mounting bracket to the vehicle and attatched the piston with the two clips that came with it.

I know this is not a topic of this forum but...... has anyone ever replaced the auxillary cargo button on their rx330? (one of the pair of buttons in the rear cargo area of the vehicle)

You really should post this question as a new topic. Being mixed with hood supports just won't give you the page views of members that can answer your question.
