Anyone got a line on a hood latch cable for $20-30?
Been having some issues with the hood latch release cable. I inspected the latch mechanism and the plastic trac for the cable and the plastic ferrule that holds the cable to the latch is busted.
which model years are compatible? Will one for an rx300 work? What about Highlander Camry or es300/330 ? Not looking to spend $50 on some aircraft cable with a fancy ferrule.

Not sure but I know the cable is specific to the 2004-2009 RX. The Highlander and Camry have their own. Might be worth it to try some from a junkyard? My Highlander has the same plastic ferrule I’m pretty sure.

I found one for an rx300 for $18 the latch should be the same if not identical so the cables should be the same length since the body is very close in dimensions as far as the engine bay is concerned. I have a hard time believing they manufactured a special hood latch cable for the rx330

There's an OE one on Ebay for $44.95 which includes shipping.👍

53630-48030 = Japan-made models, 53630-0e010 = NA-made models. If you see any letters on the 2nd part, it's made in Canada or the USA. I've never had problems interchanging parts, but generally I try to go with the Japan parts on any car even NA made ones, better workmanship. If one has a huge price difference, just go for that one though.

Does anyone know how long the cable is? There are a bunch of options sold by dorman that would work in theory I just need to make sure the length is right. Doorman lists the lengths of their cables but I can’t find any info on how long the Rx cable is. The Highlander’s is about 80”/ 2095mm
