How do I override GPS on 2008 RX350??
I just bought a new RX350 with a Lexpod (an iPod interface for the Lexus). After talking with both the manufacturer and the seller of the Lexpod, it's become clear to me that the same software or hardware configuration that greys out the buttons on the GPS is causing the Lexpod be hobbled. For instance, the Details screen, that shows the Artist and Song information, completely disappears as soon as the car starts moving! ARGHH!*$#%!
The manufacturer suggested that I override the safety feature on the GPS (and referred me to Club Lexus). I've heard and read conflicting ideas about how to do this.
I found a hardware hack that involved cutting wires. This is obviously a last resort which I would like avoid if possible!! Besides, the information I found online was for an older model and I don't know if it will work for my 2008 RX350. I don't want to go cutting wires unless I'm sure!!
The other hack involves pressing the NAV Screen's corners several times to bring up some secret diagnostic screen. I read somewhere that you have to do this every time you startup. Forget that!! But I also heard from the guy who sold me my car that a woman who purchased a car from him was able to do this hack and it was permanent!
Problem is, I've tried a couple of these NAV Screen hacks, repeatedly pressing the screen exactly as instructed and even trying variations. Here is an example of one which didn't work:
1) Push 'Menu'
2) Push 'Volume' on the screen
3) Push upper left corner of screen where speaker picture is.
4) Push lower left corner of screen where nothing is.
5) Push upper left corner of screen where speaker picture is.
6) Push lower left corner of screen where nothing is.
This brings up a menu. (Not for me!!)
7) Push and hold 'override' until you hear a beep and viola!
Does someone have a 2008 RX350 that they've successfully used a NAV Screen hack with??

lol lexus got smart on the 2008 generation nav. there is no longer a "hack" to do this.
if you dont want the blockout, you're going to have to go after market (which would involve taking apart the dash). sorry my friend

Any thoughts about where or how to do this?? I don't think I want to do this myself. But I also don't want to entrust my new car to someone who doesn't really know what they're doing!

advice:
don't worry about song info, just enjoy the music. Here is another thought
Stand up
Let your arms relax, and your hands come to rest with gravity as the only force
Keep one hand there;
Forget the rest

Obvious but call them and ask them about the ultimate lockpick 3+ and your specific car model. their website hedges and disclaims all over the place. look and see what version of nav DVD came with your car if you don't already know. they make some references of some units working only with certain dvd versions. i wont be surprised if the wire cut is the best option. i wouldn't want to tackle that myself either tho many have.
