How to replace Cabin Air Filter
Does anyone know how to replace Cabin Air Filters (Air Conditioning)? What aftermarket cabin air filters I can use for RX330? This is my first time and 30K miles is coming up. Thanks in advance.

I just replaced the one in my '04 RX. It is very easy. The filter is right behind the glove box. Open the glove box, push the sides in until the glove box is free of the tracks and can swing all the way open. Pull out the filter drawer the the old filter and replace it with the new one. You will be amazed at how dirty your old one is. I definitely recommend DENSO brand filters. They are OE on Lexus and are the best ones you can buy. To find out which part number will fit your car go to densoaftermarket.com.

Mine is 06 RX 330, and I just changed the filter not long ago...
you first open the glove box. look inside the edges, you will see a black piece of plastic is holding the glove box into a rail.
the tip of that black plastic is a little handle that you can turn. turn it, and you can pull it out (but its very tight... I have to use a little straight screwdriver to help).
once you get the 2 black plastic out, the glove box open wide, and you'll see the cabin filter. you pull that thing out, and change the filter.
I bought the filter from Lexus parts... $40+... not cheap...
mine is only 15K... but its already dirty....
hope it helps...

I read somewhere if you find that it's really dirty you can go ahead a replace it, otherwise Toyota OEM cabin a/c filters are washable, just have the time and patience to clean it. I hope it's okay to wash/rinse it and reuse them.

Very nice to have a filter keep the dirt and crap off the climate control coils.
I don't mean to be cantankerous, but there are advantages to a dirty air filter up to the point where it is seriously clogged. There is no real advantage to flowing freely - with A/C it is always a trade-off between big air volumes versus extracting more moisture.
A dirty cabin filter will filter better.
The fans tend to have lots of headroom and, if slightly clogged they may give you finer adjustment at low power.
Most of us are just too antsy about doing easy wrenching (like changing filters). Easy to be needlessly enthusiastic about having a clean A/C filter.

The AC must work with a certain CFM accross the coils. Lower CFM will make the coils freeze. A clogged up filter is not good. The Filter is only $18 and it is OEM made by Denso.

Thanks, I didn't know Sewell Lexus offered discount. It's not too far from here. Do you know how much discount they offer, and if I can pick up the parts with the dicsount to save on shipping?
