Nav System - Entering Phone Numbers with Pause
Just got my RX350 Saturday and still trying to figure a few things out....
I am trying to enter a phone number in the phone book that will check my work voice mail.
It needs to dial a number, pause, dial an extension, pause, and enter a password.
When I add the entry to the phone book in the Nav System, I add the pauses in the right places. What happens is it dials the first number, then never continues with the extension or the password. It only displays all the number up to the first pause.
Only way I have been able to get around this is to add Speed Codes for the extension and password and hit those keys once the initial number has been dialed.
Anyone have an idea why the pause function doesn't seem to be working?
Thanks for any assistance
Jim

Entering pauses into phonebook
I use a Sony T68i phone to enter numbers into the phonebook. When entering numbers I hold down the * key and it shows 'p' which is the pause character.
Works fine for me.

Although the system supposedly supports both "pause" and "wait," it treats both like a "wait," i.e. after sending the first part of the number, the car wants you to press a couple of more buttons to send the rest of the number. I don't why they couldn't get this right. It is SO simple.
Has anyone else been able to make a number with a "pause" in it work correctly when speed dialed?
(Yes, of course, if you have a "pause" stored in your phone and manually use your phone to dial it, then that will work fine. I'm talking about having the Lexus pause for a few seconds and then send the rest of the number when speed dialing from the phone book in the Lexus.)

In the old days of modems you would enter a comma "," to indicate a 1-2 second pause. Sometimes you would put in a couple of commas depending on the system you were trying to access.
If you cannot add commas directly into the NAV system try adding them on your phone and transferring the contact over to your Lexus.

See if they know a way to add the pauses into the Lexus system. Like I said, the old way was to use commas. Still works on the cellphone I use along with the office phone system. So, the phone switching software still recognizes them. Perhaps Lexus engineers did not see the need for this as it is a bit obscure.

I bought my 3rd rx350 this summer and this one has the Nav option. I find it hard to belive and very disappointing that the nav system can't process a pause. I use this all the time for checking messages. Why does it show pause on the screen if it actually just stops processing the phone number? Brutal design, or a user error many of us seem to be making.

Unable to check voice mail via bluetooth
Same problem, it turns the first pause into a wait. If you stop auto updates from phone and enter a new number, it forces you to enter a wait before you can enter a pause. There is no way I know to clear the wait when number is dialed. Works fine if phone is used.
