New guy here about to pull trigger on 2002 RX300 with 107,300 miles. It's awd and appears fully loaded, drives so smooth and quiet. Extremely clean in and out and the engine bay!
Doesn't smell like fabreze or tobacco. I'm a bit concerned about all the engine sludge and tranny issues I read about. It's from a Toyota dealer and was bought at auction so don't have any maintenance info. Having my mechanic check it out tomorrow. I've driven it 30 miles and it runs great. I have it for the day tomorrow and will return to dealer after my mechanic checks it out.
What say you fellow RX 300 owners?

Welcome to Club Lexus!
Take the VIN and make an account on Lexus.com. You can check service history there if the car was serviced at the dealer.
Was the timing belt changed?
Pull the transmission dipstick and check the color of the ATF. How's it smell?
If the oil was changed on time you have nothing to worry about regarding engine sludge. If you service the transmission every 15-30k miles you will likely avoid any transmission issues. You should have the updated transmission as 02' was after the update.

Thanks for the info, hypervish. I checked Lexus.com for maintenance history -- looks like was regularly serviced by Lexus up until 2years ago (68,000 mi.) when 2nd owner bought it. No info after that. It certainly looks like was well cared for inside and out. We'll see -- to my mechanic today.
