Drivers Seat Cover Replacement RX300
I have a 2000 RX-300, 150K miles and runs perfectly. However the only thing that has worn out on it is my drivers seat. The leather is splitting especially in the seat and on the sides. Does anyone have a good source for finding the original leather seat covers for this model? I'm looking for the Tan leather seat cover for the drivers seat.
Thanks

Been there, but my choice was to go to a competent auto upholstery shop that has access to OE materials. For mine, also about 150K at the time, the result was great.

Original seat covers (if you can find them) would probably put the national debt to shame! Get a good upholstery shop to replace the seat cover. Vinyl will cost you about $150-$200. Leather will cost at least twice that, depending on if they have to buy a complete half hide or have a remnant left over from a previous job. Don't buy a used one off e-bay - you'll be having the same problem again in a year or two.

You might also consider a good leather repair guy. You have probably seen those before and after photos. It is amazing what they can do.
I had some repairs done last winter on mine, but it wasn't in that bad shape.
In the old days, there were DIY kits available everywhere, but I think the airbags complicate the situation.

I've had three local Tampa Bay Area shops turn me away due to the airbags in the seats. All telling me that once they get inside, there is normally a little tag telling them not to go any further due to liability risks. Kind of frustrating. But I've got one more shop where the owner actually drives an RX and he said he has no problem touching it.

I am looking to purchase a RX 350 - 2010. It is from auction and its going for $23,000 for 44k miles. The drivers seat leather is ripped. Is this still a good buy? Or more like good bye? It's my first time to buy and I have no idea how this works and just registered. Future Lexus owner.. I hope. Please assist!!

They did good work back then.

If you don't get the seat repaired, you'll have the heated seat wires singeing your jeans daily.
On the other hand, I don't really use my heat. Yet.
p.s. the wires aren't burning through my jeans, but I can feel they're a little hotter if I happen to sit on the seat and open the leather part.
