auto rx advice please
99 rx300 with 125,000 miles. works great. i bought it used with 122,000 miles. the short block was replaced, with timing belt, at 85,000. lexus dealer says records show good maintainance since then. still, i am kind of paranoid. i bought 3 bottles of auto rx and need some advice.
i would like to do the 1 bottle addition that their web site suggests, and then use 3 oz maintainance at every 3k oil change, using a new k&n filter and good non-synthetic oil. by the way, i only drive this on weekends, so the total yearly mileage will be less than 6,000 miles.
dealer also say the transmission was checked at 113,000 miles and the fluid was clean with no metal filings. of course i had the fluid changed when i bought it, and i will change it yearly no matter how few miles i put on it.
any thoughts about zuto rx greatly appreciated.

Are you trying to solve a problem?
If not I would say dont mess with it. Just do regular oil change and if there is a REAL problem then reach out for cures.

I agree, if it ain't broke, don't try fixing it.
On another note, I am in serious need of some Auto RX to fix a leaking rear main seal, if you want to sell a couple of the bottles you just bought

wow, i just noticed how lousy my typing is. thank you all for the replies. the reason i asked is because i thought i saw a lot of posts extolling the virtues of auto rx, even as a preventative. in my case, as salim has suggested, since i do not have a noticeable problem, i should leave well enough alone, and i am prepared to do that. but, then, what is the purpose of autorx as a preventative, or is it only to solve an existing problem????? thnaks again.

To clarify, I just gave my personal opinion, and keep in mind that my views at times are flawed.
There are exceptions but the engines with normal regular maintenance (quality oil + filter) out last lot of other pieces of machinery in the vehicle. Modern day oils have the cleaner (detergent) in them. So when there is no problem, let it be. On the onset of the problem take corrective action.
Now let us examine who would like to see increased sales of a product.
1. Manufacturer.
2. Any one who makes commission on sales.
3. Any one who has used the product to cure a problem successfully.
4. People who are on the bandwagon.
Among all those, I would listen to folks in #3. And thus for me, the problem has to exist.
Hopefully someone will present the other point of view and it would help readers make an informed choice.
