Nav system ???? newbie question
Hi
I am from Singapore and a great fan of the lexus RX300 or toyota Harrier in Japan
I have just bought a Toyota Harrier from a parallel dealer.
But I do not know whether my car have the DVD nag system ? How can I know whether I have it or not ?
If not , how and where can I get one ? cost ?
please advise...
thanks

Selamat datang, jaswat.
Assuming the Harrier is the same as the RX300, if you have a digital clock just under the screen, then you have a nav system. If the digital clock shows up on the screen display itself, you don't have a nav system. World opinion is that retrofitting the Toyota nav into a vehicle which did not leave the factory with one is next to impossible.
You could try an aftermarket portable unit like the Garmin StreetPilot III, but I don't know if they have the maps for Singapore.
What does a Harrier cost in Singapore?
How much is the Certificate Of Entitlement these days?
There is much speculation here on what the new redesigned RX (to be called the RX330) which due to go on sale in the US in April looks like. Maybe you could find out from your part of the world if there is new redesigned Harrier due and if there any pictures of it around?

Thanks ! man
hey ....
Thanks a zillion.
I am just dsiappointed that my RX does not have the Navg system as it is the 2002 model.
Seems like 95% of RX300 in singapore does not have this nag system in it.
Wonder if this is the case as Europe & US .

Hi Jaswat,
Don't be dissapointed at all as even if your Harrier came with the Navigation system I'm pretty sure you won't be able to use it in Singapore. It comes with a Naviken system and CD and I believe it's only for use in Japan. Besides, it seems the electronics varies between Harrier models imported from different parts of Japan, i.e. a model from Tokyo will be different from one model imported from Osaka etc.
However, I've heard that you can make modifications to the TV function to tune local stations and also to view DVD / VCD. This is Hong Kong so not sure if the acc shops in Singapore would be able to do that. You might want to check.
Cheers,
Pat
