Minor problems
Hi all,
I am newbie here. I have owned my 2001 RX300 Silversport for about 14 months now with about 15,000 miles and it's been a great SUV so far. I have noticed a couple of things about my RX300 and was hoping that you all would share some of your insight.
I have noticed a popping/clicking noise coming from the moonroof area. It's been doing this since I bought the SUV brand new. Does anyone else have this noise? It seems to be more noticeable on hot days when it's been sitting in the sun for a while.
Another thing is that I have noticed that there's puddles of water underneath the car after driving around with the air conditioning on. Is this a normal thing? I first thought I was leaking oil...but I touched the liquid and it appeared to be water.
Thanks in advance for your input.

The popping/clicking from sunroof area is a well known phenomenon reported by many on another forum (Edmunds TH). I get it too. Apparently, it is expansion and contraction. Many a dealer was reported to have tried to fix it, but unsuccessfully. I don't know if a fix was finally reported.
The puddles of condensate from the A/C are normal.

Yeah, I get that popping/clicking in the moonroof also.
They replaced all four pieces of molding up there, but to no avail.
Would love to find out what the hell can be done to fix it!
It's the little things...

Thanks Paul and Eph for the info. I thought I was going crazy with hearing those noises when I first bought the RX300. After a while, you just tune yerself out from hearing that noise. Then it came back to annoy me. At first I thought the noise was coming from the back seat area...then a friend of mine notice it was coming from the moonroof area.
Yeah, it's the little things...
But overall I am very happy with the RX300. It has never given me a problem since I took delivery.
Cheers!

Found this on Edmunds RX300 forum (#5374)
"After 7 attempts the dealer finally was able to fix my popping sunroof. The first 6 times he tried lubrication, insulation, felt padding, procedures in an older Lexus TSB and procedures in the Highlander TSB without any success. He finally ordered Lexus part #'s 63217-48010, 63218-48010, 63219-48010 and 63635-48010 which all go under the name of Sunroof Garnish. It has been 2 weeks now and the problem is definetly solved."
The Highlander TSB was supposed to be the fix, but from this it appears it maybe doesn't always work.

Daddy-O, thanks for the welcome note. I will heed your advice on the dripping/not dripping a/c unit.
Thanks for the feedback everybody. I guess I will live with the popping noise for now.
