99 RX 300 Shifting Problems,also have a P0330 CEL code
I have been working on my Daughters 1999 RX 300 2WD for a few weeks now. My problem is, the car will not shift into 4th gear, whenever code P0330 appears. I have checked the knock sensors and they check out good. Please where do I go from here?? Also I have been looking online for schematics of the ECM for the car, I have no luck accomplishing this.
I have also heard of a saftey feature that the car goes into when activated by the knock sensors, that precludes the transmission from shifting passed 3rd gear, I dont know if this is true or not, I read this on another forum. Also my traction control light comes on whenever the CEL comes on. I have reset the CEL, and after doing so, it seems to work. Then after a few miles the CEL returns and so does the traction control light. Now, the car has shifted into 4th gear a few times during this mess, but it is really rare. Any help would be appreciated, or a point to the right direction to find help.
Also, if anyone has a picture of the ECM with terminals ID'd , or if someone know's where to find a pic, that would be great. The reason I would like a pic is so that I can check the knock sensors without tearing down the engine again. Thanks for all your help I am new to the forum

How did you check the knock sensor?
It is a transducer, so a conductivity (ohms) check may not be enough. You need a scope and knowledge of what is a good waveform.
Search on knock sensors and look up the DIY I posted.
Lock out of high gear is normal. Carry a code-check/reset to clear CEL.

ps: typical life seems to be 120k miles on knock sensors.
