CEL/VSC lights and then cranks , no start
Hi All,
I hope you can help so I will start at the beginning. I had the oil changed on my 2001 RX300. They did check the air filter but did not change as it was clean. I start the car and find CEL/VSC lights on so i check the vacuum hose that can pull off, still connected. I get the codes read, P1135 and P1130 pending. I assume since the lights came on after the air filter box was opened it was not truely the AF sensor bank1, sensor1. I clear the codes with a code reader and the lights come back on. Knowing the only activity was at the box, today I remove the box and unplug the MAF plug from the harness as well as the smaller plug in the lid of the box. I removed the suspect hose to inspect for a crack. No cracks, hose reinstalled. I plug the 2 harness connections together, put it all back together and pull the EFI fuse to try and clear the codes and see if all was well. Now, the RX cranks and won't fire. I check the security light on the dash. It blinks until I insert the key and light goes out, telling me all 3 of my keys are being recognized by the ECU, but still cranks and won't fire. So my initial CEL/VSC problem may still be an unresolved issue but now I have to get the RX running before I can return to the original problem. Any thoughts, as I am tossing a rope around a tree branch and forming a noose as I type this. Your input is not only welcome, but much appreciated.

After you mess with MAF, when you crank you got to put pressure on gas pedal and may be hold down 1/4 distance.

Thanks, I did depress the pedal while cranking. It starts but as soon as I let off the pedal it stalls. Any other thoughts? I don't want to risk driving it in the dark tonight and getting stuck so tomorrow morning I will run it on the highway and see what happens. I have been reading other posts and see the Idle Air Control Valve can be a possible cause. Can it be cleaned? Where is it located for cleaning or replacement?

Check the DIY thread.
By the way, if there was no idle (IACV) trouble before, I would hold off messing with it. Try gunning the engine a few times before shutting off and see if on the next start it holds the idle.
