2000 RX300 w/ding-ding sound and brake light on dash flashing
Hi all. I am hoping someone can help me with this one. This is my wifes car, but I maintain it pretty well. I changed her front brakes about 2 months ago and she tells me now that she is getting the brake light on her dash flashing on and off and the dinging bell like when you have your door open is dinging at her while she drives. I asked her if her brakes are working and she said yes. I'm not sure what it could be as I'm working long distance and only come home every couple of weekends. I have a friend she can take it too to get checked out, but I'm suspecting that it's either the parking brake, air in the brake line, even though I didn't bleed them, I forgot, or the ABS isn't functioning properly. These are just guesses, but considering that's the last thing I worked on, it's the only place I have to start with as far as a long distance diagnosis.
Can anyone help or know what this is or possibly could be? Thanks.

You aren't going to believe this, but I had a similar problem last year on my daughter's 99RX. I started a thread on it called "chime keeps dinging," I believe. The chime got worse and worse, and even started dinging when the window switches or turn signals were used. The dealer worked and worked, but couldn't find a problem. The service manager said he wouldn't have believed it was happening if he hadn't seen it happen when I brought the car in. I checked the brake light switch, and it was okay. Someone on here said I might have a bad cap on the brake fluid reservoir. There's a fluid sensor switch in it, of course, but apparently there's some kind of computer chip in there which went bad. I ordered a new cap online for about $100, and the problem was solved. I hope that's all it is for you; I just wish it involved a cheaper part. Let me know if that does it!!

Parking brake switch is sending the signal ... maybe the brake is not fully released or the switch is bad

Common problem. It's the cap on the brake fluid reservoir as thhs75 indicated. The only thing I can add is to check it just unplug the wire at the cap. Your problem will be gone.

I would agree with mikey00, if it was not for the "ding" sound.
