Ready for caliper painting..just a question
im all set to paint my calipers this weekend. i plan to remove all wheels, then paint (G2) the calipers...wait a while (how long should i wait?), then put on the lexus caliper stickers. then this tuesday, i receive my new rims/tire package. my question is after putting on the sticker, should i spray on that high temp clear coat that i have read some have done. its suppose to make it glossier and protect it more. i went and found duplicolor clear coat spray (do they make a brush on?) but it didnt say anything about being "high temp", so i didnt buy it. should i have? thank you guys for your advice and im posting pics when its done

hey man.. i bought same kind of paint as you did.. although i didnt get to use it.. heh.. i went to one of the place to put my wheels on and i forgot my paint with me but they guy had just regular paint for high temp .. so he sprayed over my calipers couple of times then he put my wheel on.. its been at least year and a half.. probably even more.. paint hasn't come off yet.. as for stickers.. i bought those too but i was waiting for them to put on after i paint my calipers.. now that i'm looking to upgrade to big brakes upgrade kit i think i'm gonig hold off a bit again.. after i put them on.. if i can put those stickers that'd be nice.. but i know some of my friends put it on without any problems.. and they are very happy with 'em good luck

I have the same G2 paint and am going to be doing my calipers soon as well. I also got silver so I can paint my rotors, the part that the wheel mounts to. I saw a pic of another member who painted his silver and it looked clean. maybe I can find the link.

That is the link to the article. The picture shows the rotor part painted silver, which imho looks pretty clean.
Keep us posted on how it turns out and take lots of pics

This is what I did:
1- Removed wheel
2- Cleaned caliper thouroughly with a little degreaser and paper towel, dry.
3- Sprayed high temp engine enamel paint on nice and thick (cast alluminum color)
4- Applied lexus decal after that was dry to the touch
5- Sprayed hi-temp clear coat on nice and thick. I did one big coat, I should have done two moderate coats, cuz one tiny edge of the "l" peeled up and i had to glue it down, otherwise, worked great.
... I dont care what people say... the stock calipers on SC4s and GS4s are BIG.

ok now i want to do this, quick question how did you guys cover the wheel well and the rotors so that the paint wont touch those parts. did you guys paint the back side of the caliper? i see no point in painting the back side.

with the G2 system you just brush the paint on. You may want to mask off the rotors so you dont get any on them but otherwise you shouldnt worry about it unless you are really sloppy If you are going to spray paint then I would mask off everything except the calipers themselves so no overspray can hit the car.
