Default Oops, never a good site to see, but Lexus Road Side Stepped Up

On way home from trip. Wife driving and struck a pot hole 152 miles from home. Tire disintegrated and just barely made it off onto an exit ramp.

Lexus Roadside Assistance only required to tow car to nearest dealer. We were 50 miles from a dealer in another city and 150+ miles from a dealer where we currently reside. We offered to pay difference between mileage just to get car to my dealership and assumed we would have to return to city we just left to get a rental car and drive back.

Lexus then offered to cover all expense to take the car to my dealership 150+ miles away and actually found a tow truck big enough to carry me, my wife, my 3 1/2 year old, our dog and our luggage all the way back home.

Now waiting to see if rim[s] or anything else damaged. I see Vossens in my future if even one rim is damaged.

I am also attaching a picture of the shoddy patch job on the pot hole we hit.

Scary stuff, but glad everyone's okay. It looks like Lexus really stepped up too!

Sounds like everything turned out OK. So you were able to get all off you and a dog and luggage in an RC F? No dogs will be stepping paw in my RC F, I might not even let the wife in ;-)

Yep. Wife, 3 1/2 year old in car seat, small dog, me, luggage, hanging clothes and still had room in the trunk and rear seat behind the driver.

I always tell my wife she can move seat back more with Olivia behind her, but she says she is fine. I was in passenger seat with dog in my lap when wife hit pot hole. Plenty of room and dog and I were asleep when it happened.

Just heard from Lexus, at least one rim bent. Can not check suspension or alignment until get new wheel in and mounted. Think I will skip Vossens as they do not have any currently available that I like.

Keeping fingers crossed no suspension damage as I am trying not to claim this on insurance.

Yep. I am a lawyer so knew how to document. State can avoid liability by arguing no notice or did not create. They clearly had notice as they tried to repair. They just did a shoddy job.

Feel your pain, but at least it was just a tire. Keeping my fingers crossed no suspension issues. I did have some body damage they said . . .

Got car back. No suspension damage, but off to body shop to get an estimate and submit claim to State.

Good to know about "no notice" smart phone cameras are changing the world.

Apparently, the tire tread did some damage when tire let go and flopped around inside wheel well.

Surprised the dealership didn't order up the wheel, tire & new well parts and just open the claim with your insurance...

Assuming there is no painting involved..
